She/He cheated on you.
This is the most frequent situation and also the worst dealt with. If your partner cheated then confront him the first chance you get. If she/him admits, then just calmly inform her/him that it's over and walk away. If he/she denies it but you are 100% certain walk away and that's it. If she/he doesn't have the courage to admit it, he doesn't deserve a proper breaking up.
If you are not certain he cheated, and only have a hunch, do not do anything stupid.. His behavior will often indicate whether he has or not.
We're in a short term relationship.
We're talking about relationships of about a couple of days or weeks usually. They are still relations nevertheless and they still deserve a proper breaking up. So just follow the guide but at a lower scale.
